Hello everyone,

I'm planning on making the Almond PCB, I was wondering if I can build on the Arduino Mega 2560 or do I have to start from scratch ?
And what challenges do you think I might encounter while building ?

Any thoughts ?

Sasu,

Building on the Arduino 2560 platform would be an excellent way to get started, the almond PCB uses an ATmega2560 at its core and comes with the Arduino Mega boot-loader already programmed. Challenges you may find building a board for the Ada hand would mainly be to do with space. This would most certainly be the case if you were to use Arduino motor shields.

The datasheet for the Almond board should help you with design decisions and also has the arduino pin functions listed.
